Easter and innovation at the Paris Fair
Still at the forefront of innovation, the Foire de Paris is a general purpose retail trade show that has been held every year since 1904. This year it takes place at the end of April and beginning of May. But before that we have Easter, an ideal time to get some shopping done, and there are no finer temples of retail action than the capital’s legendary department stores on the Left Bank.
The temple of innovation in Paris
Founded over a hundred years ago, the Paris Fair is currently held at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre, where it has featured annually since 1923. The largest general purpose fair in Europe will run this year from April 27th to May 8th, showcasing as always the latest products and services to enhance your everyday life. With more than 600,000 visitors expected to view and try out the wares of 3,500 exhibitors in an area of 220,000 m2, the Foire de Paris is most definitely a major success story, both in terms of popularity and commercially, and also a trend indicator. For ten days the event offers a wonderful opportunity for exhibitors to introduce their most innovative inventions and products to the general public. Divided into three distinct sectors relating to the worlds of gastronomy, leisure and home, the Paris Fair also rewards innovation. The Grand Prix de l'Innovation and the Lépine prize are awarded during the fair to the best new ideas and inventions, and this year the public will be able to vote for their favourites online. Demonstrating clearly how this wide-ranging trade fair remains at the cutting edge, this year’s edition will be giving pride of place to the marvels of virtual reality.
Easter and the great Parisian department stores
Legendary and iconic places with their roots in the 19th century, the Grands Magasins (department stores) of Paris such as the Bon Marché are the shop windows of the capital. Easter is a wonderful time to discover the delights of these places. You can find chocolate treats for both young and old and enjoy the perfect retail therapy experience, browsing amidst a tempting array of choices in stylish and inviting surroundings. Now permanently associated with the novels of Émile Zola, the Bon Marché in the Rue de Sèvres is a true temple of fashion and ready-to-wear. Offering luxury clothes and accessories, perfumes, gift ideas and all the necessities for your home, the Bon Marché is a great place to discover during your Easter break in Paris. For more than a century and a half this great department store has been a perfect example of Parisian chic, bustling with the presence of notable French and international brands. With an area of more than 30,000 m2 and with 15,000 visitors per day the Bon Marché is definitely the place for the one-stop shopping extravaganza of a lifetime
